Gareth Bale and Micheal Dawson update.

I don't think explanation is required. We've had an exceptional season with every member of the player staff punching well above their weight, showing their thorough hunger and desire to do well for a club that has enjoyed such a thriving history.

Although, two exceptional characters have come on and displayed their brimming talents giving us the eagerness to look forward to seeing them next season and, without doubt, they are Gareth Bale and Micheal Dawson.

Gareth has shown excellent athleticism down our left flank and suddenly our years of struggling to identify a natural left winger seem to have ended as he has made that position his own. His pace, skill and crossing ability has brought about a new light on a player that was on the fringes of our the first team 8 months ago.

Dawson has proved an exceptional stand-in for Ledley over the last few years and should now be in contention for England. A rock at the heart of our defence that now finds himself as one of the first name's on the team sheet and a natural leader at the back.

"Spurs can win the league"

Before Wednesday's North London derby against our foreign rivals in Arsenal our mathematical chances of claiming 4th spot shone favourably on us, although, our fixture list told a different story. With Arsenal still to come after their kicking in Barcelona and Chelsea closely following them, even our most optimistic fans may have admitted that we would come close but, resultantly, 5th spot looked to have our name printed on it.

Well what a big 4 days it has been.

I'm sure I wasn't the only one that prematurely took the assumption that we would fall short against the Arsenal, illustrating that 120 minutes at Wembley would prove to much for us to handle and, in the end, would fail to grab a result owing to masses of fatigue and injuries amongst the squad.
But still I was there, in Park Lane, block 35 next to the scum support, and witnessed a site that we haven't witnessed in the league for a fair few years.

How I loved mocking them, giving the Arsenal fans the grief that we have taken for so many years and not letting it die after the game. What a fantastic support, what a fantastic performance and what an absolutely brilliant result.

Most teams would point at the fact that 3 games inside 6 days would invite the 'tiredness' excuse, especially when those 3 games are in an FA Cup semi and against Chelsea and the scum.
I was preparing myself for this, a loss, but how Spurs like to get your blood pumping and give you that feeling of ecstasy. This was Chelsea's game, the game that would see them move 4 points clear and win the league in a few weeks. But how their misery proved our delight as we went on to consolidate another 2-1 win, even though it could so easily have been 3 or 4 or 5 or... you saw the game, I won't go on.

The satisfaction was imminent on our faces and how we will go singing all the way up to Manchester next week.

Now, I'm not jumping to any rash conclusions, I'm far to pessimistic for that.

With City looking shaky, this is our 4th spot for the taking and we'll support them every step of the way.

A bad bad day

What can be best described as a sheer 'gutter blow,' a kick in the teeth and that same sick feeling that occurred when West Ham prevented us from Champions League football a few years back. We all know the difficulty of the fixture list and it brought about a response from many of us with the feeling that three points today and we would still be very much in the hunt for that 4th spot.

Sunderland. A side that had hit form of late especially at home, but a team that no doubt a win was an absolute must. A side that realistically had starved off the threat of relegation and any real ambition was that of making the top 10.

Criticism of Tottenham this season had been much more of a rarity and far less frequent than what it had been in previous season's, although today brought back memories of the past leaving a bitter feeling of disappointment and a large weight added to our grasp of 4th position.

With the top 3 sides still to play and a trip to Manchester City edging ever closer, it is understandable to see where points may be lost on the final stretch to 4th spot.

With Villa giving themselves an outside chance and City currently 2-0 up. It's hard to see us keep hold of the 4th spot. All we can do as fans is stay behind them team and cheer them for 90 minutes for the remainder of the season.
